FAQs

What will the cost be?

$9600 per year with discounts for multiple children.

Where will you be located?

We have a partnership with Lebanon Methodist Church in Hanover, VA.

Do you serve special needs?

We are currently not trained to serve children with serious learning disabilities.

How do you track student performance?

Students earn badges for mastery of core skills in lieu of traditional grades (A, B,C, D, F). Receiving a badge means mastery in that core skill (equivalent of an A). Badges are not earned until they have reached mastery in that specific area, thus ensuring that students successfully learn and process what they're studying. Badges are translatable as transcripts to other academic institutions.

Students also demonstrate the results of their learning journey through showcases, productions, markets and presentations on their studies.

Are you accredited?

Yes. The Acton Methodology is accredited by the IALDS.

Do you have summer break?

Yes. Our school calendar for the 2024 year is from Late August to Early July. We will try and mimic the public school  calendar as best we can but will have 1 week breaks in between our 6 week sprints.

Do you do conventional testing?

Every year, students complete a standardized test (ACT12 or ITBS) to verify that they are performing at or above grade level while retaining the knowledge and experience earned. Even so, we do not take a "teach to the test" approach", opting rather for our individualized approach.

How much time do you spend outdoors?

A TON!  We strongly believe that children need to be outside exercising and playing.

What is an Acton Imprimis?

Acton is a popular education methodology that is driven by many Montessori principles. The Imprimis is their Christian brand. This is a micro-school that will abide by Christian principles and affirm your children daily in their identities as co-heirs with Christ.

What is a typical day like?

We operate 830-315pm each day. It is primarily broken down into four areas: Launch, Core Skills, Recess, and Projects. We'll provide more information in our 1:1s.

Are children grouped in grades?

We believe that children learn best when working with both younger and older peers rather than being split into grades based on age. Multi-age learning and activities are purposeful and frequent.

What denomination are you?

We are not affiliated with any particular denomination.
